Some will move on to party at schoolies celebrations and make decision that will shape the rest of their lives.
Spinifex State College school captains and vice-captains encouraged all graduating students across Australia to enjoy their schoolies responsibly this year and wished them good luck with their future plans.
School captain Jonathon Reed said he would be spending the ‘‘schoolies’’ period on the Sunshine Coast instead of attending Gold Coast schoolies. He said he hoped those attending schoolies took care.
“Congratulations to all graduates of 2014, stay safe and be responsible when drinking at schoolies,” he said.
School captain Vashti Cherian said it had been a long year and satisfying year and she would now focus on her university studies for next year.
“I am glad we survived that last 12 months and I hope everyone goes out and does what makes them happy,” she said.
“I won’t be going to schoolies but staying here and working to save and go to Townsville to study teaching at James Cook University.’’
Vice-captains Maddison Gorman and Alex Kostowski said it was an exciting time and they hoped their fellow classmates stayed safe at schoolies and the years to come.
“We are both anxious and excited to start the next chapter of our lives and I will be keeping my options open to see what comes my way in the future,” Maddison said.
Alex said: “I hope no one gets injured or hurt at schoolies and they drink responsibly.’’
