Cloncurry Library Services coordinator Julie Guteridge said the Summer Reading Club, supported by the State Library of Queensland, will be held at the library from December 1 to January 31.
Borrowers returning books had stamps marking what they read, and as the number of stamps increased, so did the prizes.
Mrs Guteridge said the top readers of pre-school, primary and secondary will also receive a special prize pack at the end of the holidays.
The library will be open additional hours during the holidays as well.
This was the first time the library has been involved in the club, Mrs Guteridge said.
She hoped new faces would be drawn to the library in the holidays where their budding passion for reading could be developed.
“They can go so many places and have so many adventures in a book.”
