But it has seemingly come at the expense of his party, with the LNP dropping two percentage points on a two-party preferred basis from the last poll, leaving the LNP and Labor tied for support on 50 per cent just months out from the suspected election date.

The poll, published in The Courier Mail on Friday, queried 800 people on a range of questions over November 18 and 19.

It found that if an election was held today, the LNP would receive 37 per cent of the vote, with Labor just ahead on 38 per cent.

The two points the LNP dropped from the Galaxy poll in August were picked up by the Opposition.

The Palmer United Party suffered the biggest drop, moving from 12 per cent of the vote to 7 per cent.

The Greens polled at 9 per cent, while Katter's Australian Party remained steady on 3 per cent.  The rest went to independents or micro-parties.

But the Premier's personal popularity jumped from 36 per cent to 41 per cent.

At the same time his dissatisfaction level dropped from 56 to 51 per cent.

Mr Newman also polled 10 points higher than Opposition Leader Annastacia Palaszczuk as preferred Premier on 47 per cent, whose own satisfaction rating slipped 2 points to 37 per cent.

The criminal gang laws, passed by the government last October and recently held up by the High Court are now seemingly acceptable to voters, with 60 per cent of respondents saying they were in favour of the laws.

The most recent Newspoll, published by The Australian in late September had the LNP ahead of Labor on a two-party preferred basis – 54 per cent to 46 per cent - with its primary vote jumping from 7 points to 39 per cent.

At the same time, it rated Mr Newman's personal satisfaction levels at 35 per cent, which was just a 2 per cent increase from the previous Newspoll held in June.

Mr Newman was considered preferred Premier to Ms Palaszczuk 41 per cent to 39 per cent.

Despite the inconsistencies, the polls reflect the LNP's keep calm and stay quiet strategy – dubbed Operation Boring by the media and backbenchers – has worked to quell public dissatisfaction, which peaked in July following the Stafford by-election.

Having already suffered a loss in Redcliffe, the government, which won a historic 78-seats at the 2012 election, along with 49.7 per cent of the primary vote, was humbled into apologising to the public after chalking up another historic moment – a swing of just over 17 per cent against it at the Stafford poll.

Since then, the government has eased off its legislative push and moved to a more consultative style of governing. It is now concentrating on convincing the public of its long-term lease and privitisation agenda as it moves into election mode.

A date for the 2015 poll is yet to be set, but the most consistent speculation places the election in either February or March.
