Police said the pair - women aged 40 and 77 - were crossing Ferny Avenue about 8pm when they were struck by a southbound sedan.
A spokeswoman said both women suffered head injuries and fractures and were taken to hospital in a stable condition, however the 77-year-old was critical and the 40-year-old had serious injuries.
Police are now trying to contact their families through the Chinese consulate.
A 21-year-old male driver remained at the crash scene.
No charges have been laid but investigations into the crash are continuing.
