The Mount Isa-based apprentice jockey took out the feature of the day (1200 metre Open Handicap) aboard Fortza ($2.30) at Buchanan Park, upsetting odds-on favourite Outstandingly ($1.90 fave).
The defeat signalled the end of Outstandingly’s stellar career, with owner Andrew Saunders confirming that the eight-year-old had been retired.
Outstandingly’s career saw him race at 24 tracks in five states or territories, amassing more than $260,000 in prizemoney.
But there was no winning swansong for the grand sprinter on Saturday, with Fortza taking advantage of the weight advantage, carrying only 54 kilograms after Tincknell’s two-kilogram claim in comparison to Outstandingly’s 64kg impost.
In the end it was no contest, with Fortza scoring a devastating 7.5-length win.
Tincknell also scored victory in the 1000-metre Benchmark 60 Handicap, with Commanding Spur beating the consistent Les Smerdon-trained Gesticulation by 2.5 lengths.
Both of Tincknell’s wins on the five race program came with trainer Patrick Inwood.
It was a day for the female jockeys, with fellow Mount Isa hoop Tash Chambers also claiming two victories.
Chambers won with Damien Finter’s Wormy in the 1200 metre Maiden Plate as well as Steven Royes Miatoko in the 1450 metre Benchmark 65 Handicap.
“Wormy is a new addition to in-form trainer Damien Finter’s stable, and I was delighted to ride another winner for Damien and his owners, Lindsay Miller and Lloyd Hick, on Saturday,” Chambers said.
“They have been outstanding supporters to me this season, as I have previously won on some of their other horses such as Bianca Rossa.”
Chambers then guided the Steven Royes-trained Miatoko to victory in the Benchmark 65 Handicap (1450m).
“I was delighted to finally win on Miatoko, as I have ridden her two starts previously and had no luck,” Chambers said.
“Steven knew she was looking for the step up in distance to 1450m, and he was confident going into the race.
“I rode her precisely to his instructions and it paid off.’’
The final race of the day was won by jockey Tim Brummell aboard the Tanya Parry-trained Ten Torinos.
Brummell won the 1456 metre Class B Handicap by two lengths over What’s Up Sun and Exotic Boy.
The raceday was attended by form expert and racing identity Richie Callander, who was also a guest speaker at the Mount Isa Race Club awards night.
