"Indigenous parents with no transport walk to stores to buy food for their kids and will walk much further if small retail stores close," he said.
"It's about the children aswell."
3pm: Federal member for Kennedy Bob Katter says Commerce North West has let down small businesses with its 'support' of big business.
"The chamber has a lot of answering to do for its support of Coles and Woolworths to the detriment of the community," he said.
"If small businesses close then Woolworths and Coles will cut back their trading hours anyway to maximise profits."
State member for Mount Isa Rob Katter has now been called to the stand.
2.30pm: Federal member for Kennedy Bob Katter says seven-day trading won't help time-poor shift workers.
"Sunday trading won't benefit shift workers," he said.
"Big stores still won't be open until midnight at the change of shift."
2.15pm: BOB Katter has opened proceedings at the Commission on seven-day trading in Mount Isa by launching a scathnig attack on the Commerce North West.
The federal member for Kennedy said he was at the three-day Queensland Industrial Relations Commission to stand up for local businesses, something the region's business lobby group was unable to do.
"You are the enemy today," Mr Katter told Commerce North West president Travis Crowther.
"We're obviously very angry at the chamber today."
Queensland University of Technology business lecturer Gary Mortimer, National Retail Association representative David Stout were also among a group waiting to have their say on Sunday trading in Mount Isa.
