BEING elected as school captains for 2014 was an honour.
Having the opportunity to represent the students of Cloncurry State School over the past year is an experience we will be ever grateful for. It was an extremely rewarding role to fulfil and we were given many opportunities to represent our school and demonstrate our leadership capabilities at wider community events as well as the school environment.
It has been a busy year; we attended many sporting and social events, fund-raisers and, of course, the senior trip.
I think the seniors will agree when I say the trip was the biggest highlight of 2014.
Our trip started with four days in the snow, we then travelled to Canberra and Sydney.
The major highlights of the trip were snowboarding, visiting the Australian War Memorial, the Australian Institute of Sport, Taronga Zoo and conquering the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb.
It was definitely a worthwhile and memorable experience.
Thanks to both Miss Schumacher and Mrs Jonkers for organising the trip and chaperoning us. Thank you also to the P&C for assisting us financially.
The Student Council had a clear vision for 2014; to ignite school spirit among our fellow students.
Boosting competitive spirit between sporting houses Burke and Wills was our area of focus and we purchased mascots, the Burke Bull and Wills Croc.
They made numerous appearances at school and community events throughout the year.

WITH the support of our fellow councillors, we organised various events throughout the year to raise funds for specific school initiatives.
Teachers, parents and students donated their time for anything from cake stalls to barbecues and everything in between.
Thanks to the school community for their support and dedication.
The student council supported Breast Friends Day.
We hosted a free dress day, a colouring-in competition and face-painting stall.
Thank you to all the year 12s for 2014, and all the previous years.
We are proud of all your achievements and we are thankful to have been able to spend such important and memorable years with all of you. We would also like to thank all the parents and staff for being a constant source of support; not only in our role as school captains, but throughout our 13 years of schooling.
We feel privileged to have received so much guidance and support from our school community.
Good luck to the graduating class of 2014, the seniors of 2015 and the staff and parents who continuously support the school community.
