Headspace will provide services in four key areas - primary health care, alcohol and other drugs, mental health, and education and vocational assistance.
Chief executive of Mount Isa Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services; Headspace Dallas Leon said the facility was undergoing the last stages of construction and was set to open on December 1.
“It is a dedicated service for people aged 12 to 25 and it provides general health, mental, alcohol, drugs and educational and vocational,” he said.
Headspace has the ability to offer support for all of these services under the same roof.
Gidgee Healing is the lead agency for Headspace, a company where Mr Mr Leon is the chief executive.
“This is a brand new service that has been talked about for a while,” he said. “We were identified as the lead agent at the beginning of the year.”
Opening delays have been due to approving staff, finding the right building and fitting out the building.
Headspace is an expanding franchise and will have 90 centres in Australia by 2015.
Headspace Mount Isa will officially open on Monday with an opening day between 2pm and 4pm on Friday.
