IN the last match between Mount Isa Rugby Union’s two top sides, only one point could separate them, with Euros taking home the win.
But Cloncurry is primed for revenge, after letting in three late tries to lose that corresponding match 22-21 at Rugby Park three weeks ago.
Questions Marks skipper Hamish Chrisp knows his boys haven’t been up to their standard in recent weeks.
“We set a pretty high standard with our play and recently we haven’t stuck to our game plan as much as we would have liked,” he said.
“A couple of funny decisions cost us at crucial times last week, but hopefully the boys have learnt from that.
“But those things happen with new blokes coming in and out each week, making it hard to implement game plans.
“With both Liam Guides and Will Allan missing this week, we are going to need other blokes to step up.
“One thing is for sure, our boys are keen to show that we are better than Euros and deserve our place on top of the table.”
Euros, who haven’t played in two weeks due to the Keas’ forfeit last week, are keen to maintain their dominance against Cloncurry.
“If we can field a team as strong as we had last week, I know we can get a result against Cloncurry on Saturday,” a Euros spokesman said.
“The 28 players we had assembled to play against Keas last week was one of the strongest squads we have had this season.
“James George, who has returned to training for the club and is a chance to play this weekend, would be a massive boost for the side.
“Especially with Jacob Takurit and Victor Malula both picking up injuries recently.
“Utility back James Maher will slot the centres, with Zemic Patuwai starting the match at fly-half.
“I’m excited to see Zemic and fullback Regan Thatcher link up, as Regan carved up Cloncurry in the last match we played against them.
“We know Cloncurry will be out to prove a point, but the boys are always keen to get one over the Question Marks.”
