It's also the first time the event has included the Friday, making it three days of heaven for pop culture fans.

Friday November 28

3.50pm. From Page to Screen with Scott Baker.

The author of The Rule of Knowledge and onset colourist for The Hobbit Trilogy will run through the fundamentals of top-notch editing, filming a blockbuster fight scene and much more. Venue: Supanova Seminars.

4.30pm. James and Oliver Phelps.

An essential element of one of the most successful film franchises of all time, we've watched these Birmingham twins grow from little lads into dapper young men as Fred and George Weasley in the Harry Potter movies. The Potter pranksters will also be signing autographs and taking photos with some very lucky fans. Venue: FilmInk Features Theatre.

5.20pm. Jack Gleeson.

It's the king we love to hate. Jack Gleeson joined the cast of George R.R. Martin's Game of Thones in 2009, taking on the role of sadistic boy-king Joffrey Baratheon and shocking fans with his pure evil. Fortunately, art does not reflect life in the case of Jack, who will be participating in signing and photo sessions ($50 and $60 each, respectively) every day of Supanova. Venue: FilmInk Features Theatre.

5.30pm. Supanova Charity Auction.

If you're looking for some great collectable items and you're feeling charitable, swing by the Supanova Charity Auction to benefit the Starlight Children's Foundation. Participation in this event will help support programmes integral to the care of seriously ill children, and you might find some great things to put around the house! Venue: Madman Cosplay Theatre.

7.00pm.  Live Music: Make Out Monday.

Jeremy Shada, the multi-talented voice actor behind Finn in Adventure Time, will play out the first day of Supanova with his pop-punk five-piece band Make Out Monday. The band was formed just this year and consists of Jeremy on bass, his brother Zack and friends Logan, John and Seth. Venue:Cosplay Theatre.

Saturday November 29

10.00am. Kill la Kill.

Saturday's long list of anime screenings will kick off with an episode of Kill la Kill, the series set at Honnouji Academy where Student Council President Satsuki Kiryuin rules the school. One day Satsuki is confronted by a vagrant schoolgirl called Ryuko Matoi, and their clash quickly permeates the academy. Venue: Anime Theatre.

11.00am. Madman Cosplay Championship Finals.

This is the defining moment! Now in its sixth year, the ultimate competition to celebrate Japanese anime and cosplay culture will come to a close in Brisbane, with the state finalists battling it out to see who will be crowned Australia's top cosplayer for 2014. The five finalists are profiled below so you can check out the competition before the ultimate showdown – don't miss it! Venue: Cosplay Theatre.

1.00pm. John Jarratt.

A bona fide local legend with roles in many homegrown classics and the upcoming thriller Stalkher, Quentin Tarantino's favourite Aussie actor became an instant pop culture icon when he sharpened his knife to play outback serial killer, Mick Taylor, in Wolf Creek and Wolf Creek 2. If you've got nerves of steel, go take a picture with Australia's favourite villain. Venue: Supanova Seminars.

1.30pm. Colour your World with Adam Nichols.

Have you ever wondered how artists create visually stunning colour images? Here's your chance to discover the secret elements (or inner workings?) of colour theory in comics, games and movies – come along and check out talented artist, Adam Nichols' talk on colour theory! Venue: Imagineer's Playground.

2.40pm.  Neve McIntosh.

Best known for her portrayal of Madame Vastra, Dr. Who's human-eating, late Victorian crime fighting Silurian, this Scottish actress has also booked appearances on Ripper Street, Dracula, and Law & Order: UK. The Madame will be taking photos and signing autographs all weekend. Venue: FilmInk Features Theatre.

3.30pm. Battlestar Galactica - Ten Years On.

Join Jamie Bamber (Apollo) and Tahmoh Penikett (Helo) for this panel about one of the most inventive and ground-breaking series of the 2000s. Battlestar Galactica was the reimagining of a favourite 1970s series, in which the decimated human race battled a race of robots called Cylons. But the twist of making some of the Cylons look exactly like humans gave BSG an extra edge and helped redefine modern sci-fi. Venue: FilmInk Features Theatre.

4.20pm. Supanova Cosplay Competition.

See budding new cosplayers and veterans alike take to the stage to strut their stuff and show off their masterpieces! From still poses to hilarious skits, it's guaranteed to be loads of fun! Unlike the Madman National Cosplay Championships, this competition is open for all individual and group cosplayers! Venue: Cosplay Theatre.

Sunday November 30

12.40pm. Peter Cullen.

A veteran voice actor of the highest standing, this behind-the-mic titan has a permanent place in the pop cultural pantheon, thanks to his many performances as the wise and heroic leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime, in many different iterations of Transformers, including the classic eighties animated series, and Michael Bay's hugely popular big screen franchise. Venue: Cosplay Theatre.

1.30pm.  Comic stars sketch-off.

Celebrity comic artists Arthur Adams, Katie Cook and Wayne Nichols will battle it out with pen and paper to see who can best visualise a character selected by the audience. The artists have thirty minutes to sketch their interpretation while video coverage relays their work in progress. The winner will be determined by an audience vote, with the one-of-a-kind portrait raffled off to a lucky spectator. Ready, set, sketch! Venue:Supanova Seminars.

3.00pm.  Weta Workshop with Daniel Falconer: What the heck is Weta anyway?

Daniel Falconer, a designer at Weta Workshop, was behind the iconic costumes, weapons, props and characters seen in the The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. In this workshop he'll discuss the company's origins, its impressive filmography and project history, and answer the question, what the heck is a Weta anyway? Venue: Imagineer's Playground.

3.10pm. Alan Tudyk.

A perennial scene stealer, Alan Tudyk is known for his roles in Firefly, Death At A Funeral, DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story, Tucker & Dale vs Evil, Dollhouse, and Suburgatory, and has lent his voice to Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen and the upcoming Big Hero 6. Venue: Film Ink Features Theatre.

4.00pm. Screenwriting workshop with Steve Worland.

Steve Worland is one of the best screenwriters in the industry, having written for Farscape, Bootmen and worked in script development for James Cameron. He's also had the high-paced action novels Velocity, Quick and Combustion published. Venue: Supanova Seminars.
