After having eight members in their leadership group last season, the Blues confirmed Murphy would only have four deputies next year. The revamped five-man leadership group contains just one new face – defender Sam Rowe – with Murphy, Michael Jamison, Bryce Gibbs and Lachie Henderson all retaining their spots.
Andrew Walker and 2014 vice-captains Andrew Carrazzo and Kade Simpson opted to stand down in a bid to develop the next generation of leaders at Visy Park while Brock McLean was delisted in October. That means Carlton will name a new vice-captain or vice-captains.
Rowe's standing at the club continues to be enhanced with his inclusion in the leadership group after performing admirably in defence on some of the game's best forwards. The 27-year-old was picked up by Sydney in the 2006 rookie draft, then played four seasons in the SANFL. He battled testicular cancer soon after being given drafted by the Blues in 2011.
