Mount Isa Woolworths raised $41,136, while across Queensland and Northern New South Wales Woolworths stores $4.03 million was collectively raised.
Mount Isa Woolworth’s organiser for the Children’s Hospital Foundation Di Webber said the community’s generosity was incredible through donating, buying raffle tickets and supporting the cause.
“The community is unbelievable, they don’t hesitate to buy raffles and help out,” she said.
“Fund-raising officially starts in August to October but we do it all year round.”
Ms Webber has toured the Children’s Hospital in Brisbane and said the children were inspiring.
“The hospital is so good and the kids are just so happy,” she said.
“I have been raising money for (Children’s Hospital Foundation) for about 17 years.
“I’ve sold raffle tickets on the stairs every Saturday for years.
“We even have money that comes out of our pay each week.
“About 90 per cent of the staff donate money out of their pay each week as well as buy raffle tickets.”
In the past 28 years more than $31.2 million has been raised for the Children’s Hospital Foundation.
Woolworths Queensland fund-raising co-ordinator Michael Muller said the money raised would help fund equipment and housing.
“The $4.3 million collectively raised will help fund critical research, state of the art medical equipment, facilities and patient care programs, and also provide support to children’s wards in partner hospitals throughout Queensland and Northern New South Wales,” he said.
