Member for Mount Isa Rob Katter is asking graziers to contact his office if they would like to donate or are in need this Christmas.
“We are interested to hear of those graziers or people living out in rural towns who are suffering as a result of this terrible drought, so we can get some Christmas cheer to them,” Mr Katter said.
“My staff have contacted councils and community organisations throughout the electorate, but sometimes people who are suffering keep it quiet and don’t want others to know.
“We’re not trying to intrude, we just want those who are feeling isolated to know there are people who genuinely care and want to help make Christmas a happier time than it would have been.
“We’re helping facilitate the purchase of grocery and fuel vouchers from small town businesses to keep the funds within these hard-hit communities.”
He said his office had already been contacted by members of the public and organisations such as The Salvation Army and Rotary willing to donate or supply their time.
To donate or if you are in need contact Rob Katter’s office on 47435149.
