The Rotary Club Mount Isa selected Crime Stoppers Mount Isa to receive the proceeds from gold coin donations and candle sales at this year’s Carols by Candlelight.
Chair of Sports and Beautification and Mount Isa Crime Stoppers chairwoman Kim Coghlan said the cheque would be a big boost to raising awareness of the organisation.
“We thank Rotary very much; I know personally you do a lot around the community,” she said.
The money will go towards buying drink coasters for all the hotels in Mount Isa to help publicise the Crime Stoppers number in the community.
Mount Isa Acting in Charge Brad Inskip thanked the community on behalf of the police and said calls to Crime Stoppers has assisted police in investigations.
“On behalf of Mount Isa Police we thank you for the donation,” he said.
