Ms Krause won $400 donated by The North West Star.
After entering the competition for 15 years since moving to Mount Isa, Ms Krause said it was a lot of work but it was worth it.
“I started with just a few lights on the fence and trees, and it got bigger and bigger every year,” she said.
“I have won first prize about three times, and I also got a third and second over the years.
“Last year I went away for the first time, so I bought heaps and heaps of solar lights that got stolen, but that’s the only time I have ever had trouble.”
With it taking up to a month just to get all the lights sorted and ready to turn on by December 1, Ms Krause said she loved to share the joy with her grandchildren and the Mount Isa community.
“I love it. To see the people that come in the yard and take photos, it’s just amazing,” she said.
“When my grandson comes over he doesn’t want to go home because he loves going out and seeing the cars and handing out lollies.”
On Christmas Eve, Ms Krause will have her lights shining and she will be handing out lollies and wishing a Merry Christmas to those who come to see her lights.
Second prize was won by Colleen Graham at 9 Born Court.
She won a gift pack donated by Commerce North West and the Barkly Hotel.
The best-dressed vehicle category was won by Scott Breed. He won a gift voucher from the Boss Shop.
