Between 4.30am January 2 and 1.30am January 4 cars were broken into. Four of those vehicles were left unlocked or there was no visible sign of forced entry.
In three cases, the offenders used a rock to smash the windows to retrieve property from inside the car.
Mount Isa district crime prevention coordinator Cath Purcell said most offences occur of a night time and residents should make sure their vehicles are secure.
“The majority of property related offences are committed at night, when the least amount of witnesses are around,” she said.
“If you know you won’t be using your car again for the evening, make sure it is secure, and that there are no valuables left inside.
“If you notice something that makes you suspicious, please don’t hesitate to call police, or contact crime stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
