The LNP's official campaign launch - set to a backdrop of a sea of blue and an uplifting soundtrack - was a place where Campbell Newman could escape the polls and take centre stage.

While it was clear Mr Newman had the backing of the 700-odd supporters, his entrance was less rock star and more adult contemporary pop.

There was no chanting, wild fanaticism, or sign-waving, although the crowd remained on its feet and applauded for more than two minutes when Mr Newman and his wife Lisa emerged.

Whether they were genuine or forced, it seemed every supporter in the room was wearing a broad grin.

Only 51 chairs were on stage for sitting members, candidates and their family members; limited real estate given the LNP holds power in 73 of the 89 state electorates.

Mr Newman made a bee line for Yeerongpilly candidate Leila Abukar and her family, with the group placed behind the lectern, guaranteeing an appearance on television broadcasts.

Dr Christian Rowan, controversially preselected in Moggill last month, and his family members also occupied a section of the back row.

But there was no space on stage saved for the state's Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie. Mr Bleijie featured prominently at the height of the bikie crackdown but had to settle for the front row of the regular seats.

More noticeable was the absence of Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Julie Bishop. Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss was there, but the only talking he was required to do was to the media pack after the event.

Mr Newman used his campaign speech to highlight the LNP's achievements during the last three years - citing changes in the health, education and transport systems. The economy was stronger, he said, and there were more jobs.

He also outlined five new election promises, relating to water prices, drivers licences for young people, research funding, education and water prices.

Mr Newman mentioned the word "strong", or variations of it, more than 30 times.

The smatterings of applause and cheers grew gradually, but remained at a level which matched the premier's measured tone. The loudest cries of support came when Mr Newman declared: "We've refused to allow criminal gangs to rule our streets".

Finally, he boomed some life into his speech in his final line: "With a strong team and a strong plan, let's deliver a stronger Queensland!"

Earlier, the LNP's rising star Deb Frecklington, the Assistant Minister to the Premier, was a popular choice as master of ceremonies before treasurer Tim Nicholls and Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney delivered their own speeches.

Mr Nicholls attacked Labor's "$80 billion debt legacy" and said the Opposition would lead the state down "the path of debt" if it was to win office.

Mr Seeney vowed that the LNP's "best was yet to come".
