The government holds a huge swathe of electorates from Coomera south to Currumbin, with only Gaven - the seat held by former LNP, then Palmer United Party, now Independent Alex Douglas - escaping its clutches.
Every MP in the region holds their seat by more than 10 per cent and many have margins well above 20 per cent.
It's a sharp contrast to Monday, when Premier Campbell Newman spent the day in the Labor heartland of Ipswich.
The Gold Coast visit, which includes a trip to the set of the Pirates of the Caribbean film, is the Premier's second of the campaign, after he chose a Gold Coast cafe right around the corner from the cafe where a brawl kicked off the bikie crackdown to make his first law and order statements of the campaign, on January 7.
As a region playing home to a higher number of outlaw motorcycle gangs, the Gold Coast arguably felt the effects of the new laws more than most.
Public transport and roads, a proposed cruise ship terminal at Wavebreak Island and the 2018 Commonwealth Games also measure highly on the list of local issues for Gold Coasters.
Private school teacher Amy Thompson, 30, said improving public transport and capitalising on the Games would be among her main issues for an incoming government.
Stage one of the Gold Coast light rail opened last year but there's yet to be any funding guaranteed for stage two.
"I'd like to see a lot of changes with public transport and I guess public events, whether there sporting, music festivals things for the 18 to 35-year-olds," she said.
"I think there's a hell of a lot of things that can happen on the Gold Coast, especially with the Commonwealth Games coming.
"I think there's a lot of possibilities and opportunities, if you have the right people who have money and are aware of what the locals need."
University of Queensland Professor and expert in political law Graeme Orr said although where leaders chose to visit could be considered more significant in Queensland than other states, it was too early to read much into the visit.
"The Gold Coast is slowly changing over time. It's not the National Party stronghold it used to be," he said.
"If there's a strong swing they've got to lose seats somewhere.
"Places like the Gold Coast particularly are not that much different from the outer suburbs of Brisbane these days."
