After learning he would be lining up alongside the likes of greats Johnathan Thurston and Greg Inglis in the indigenous guernsey next month, the Cloncurry rising star’s first call was to his ill grandfather Kevin Major, who is in Townsville Hospital.

“I’m very close with my granddad ... he was very happy and so proud,” Moseley said.

Representing the indigenous side in the NRL All Stars clash is an honour for Moseley, who is passionate about his hometown of Cloncurry and his Mitakoodi tribe.

Moseley’s grandmother Amelia (Poppy) passed away late last year, and he said his selection in the side would have made her “so proud”.

“I’m very proud of my heritage and to have the opportunity to represent my family heritage is a real honour,” he said.

“I’m very proud of where I come from and I’m always proud to tell everyone I’m from Cloncurry.

“This game is a great concept for our heritage.”

Moseley was eager to learn from the opportunity to don the same strip as some of rugby league’s biggest stars.

“It’s still so surreal - the thought of playing alongside guys like Johnathan Thurston, Greg Inglis, Justin Hodges and Greg Bird,” he said. “Everyone sees what they do on the field, but to see what they do off the field and the way they prepare will be a real eye-opener,” he said.

The match will be played on February 13 on the Gold Coast.

Moseley, along with Normanton’s Davin Crampton, have been picked to line up for the Gold Coast Titans in the for the Auckland Nines on January 31 and February 1.
