Or rather, a Sydney broadcaster managed it.

In what has been a staid campaign marked by its control, sheer boredom and we-don't-want-to-vote-for-you-really-but-the-other-side-has-nothing public attitude, the announcement that Premier Campbell Newman and his deputy Jeff Seeney were suing Alan Jones for defamation went off like a firecracker.

Unlike Clive Palmer, who has offered to fund Jones' legal defence and who is mostly shell with very little bomb, Jones unleashed on the government from the moment his voice began broadcasting across Fairfax Radio 4BC's radio waves.

Having promised to create a stir, Jones attacked the government for approving the stage three Acland coalmine project on the Darling Downs, claiming the Premier had "lied" to him.

He linked donations by the coalmine's parent company, Washington H Soul Pattinson, to the federal and state Coalition parties to the approval and likened it to "prostitution".

Mr Newman and Mr Seeney took umbrage and filed their claim against Jones on Thursday.

By Friday, Health Minister Lawrence Springborg had come on board as had assistant minister Deb Frecklington.

More are expected to join.

If Jones was upset he didn't show it, calling Mr Newman  during his Friday radio show a "political novice" for suing him in the middle of an election campaign.

Fairfax radio 4BC is also being sued, but has stayed silent.

It managed to take the spotlight off the man they call Mermaid Ray, Gold Coast LNP MP Ray Stevens, who let his body do the talking in response to Independent Australia journalist Dave Donovan's questions about his $100 million cable car project.

Mr Stevens announced his consultancy and investment involvement in the project he has tried to get up since the '90s, but was denied by the former Labor government, in Parliament late last year.

He also said he had sought advice from the Integrity Commissioner, who had approved his involvement while remaining a MP and assistant minister, as long as he did not lobby for the project or have anything to do with its approvals.

But he is yet to answer any other questions on it or release the Integrity Commissioner's advice.

So when approached yet again on the issue he flapped his arms and danced, apparently unaware the encounter was also being filmed.

Both incidents were own-goals in a week in which the Labor campaign seemingly ran out of steam.

Opposition Leader Annastacia Palaszczuk announced a government she led would alter the LNP's plan for the Galilee Basin and Abbot Point port expansion but could only say what she wouldn't do, not what she would.

The solar policy she announced at the end of the week also lacked key detail, such as whether the party could guarantee electricity prices would not rise if it implemented a set solar feed-in-tariff.

The party wants to put solar panels on 1 million more homes, but couldn't say how it would make it happen.

In the most Queensland moment of the week, tough considering Mr Stevens's antics, crocodiles became a big issue with both parties snapping at the other over which had the better record of managing them.

With so much happening outside the campaign capturing voter's interest, the People's Forum on Friday night, when only the Charlie Browns of the world and political tragics were watching, was almost an afterthought.  Which is exactly how both Mr Newman and Ms Palaszczuk seemed to treat it.

Neither could muster up a lot of enthusiasm until the very last question, when they were asked to defend their party's accountability and transparency record.

But if you wanted real answers, like most of the campaign so far, it was better to watch the YouTube video of Mr Stevens dancing.

At least that was honest.
