Saturday: Contacted 35 local members and supporters across the Mount Isa electorate via email and phone to inquire about local issues and concerns.
Requests that were brought up include reducing high-suicide rates, better provision of recycling options, an end to water contaminations due to CSG, creating new jobs outside the resources industry to provide a better mix and more independence from overseas corporations.
Sunday: Wrote a detailed, five-page response to a candidate survey sent by Cloncurry Shire Council, which they will publish on their website today.
Yesterday: Celebrated Australia Day by reflecting on our shared commitment to supporting reconciliation between indigenous and non-indigenous Australian people.
I acknowledge the traditional owners of the lands across the Mount Isa electorate and wish to pay my respects to their Elders – past, present and emerging – and acknowledge the important role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people continue to play within the Queensland community.
