The Hughenden Town and Country Club black tie gala event is on March 21, and organsiers are tipping another stellar edition.
Planning for the ball has been a team effort by the busy ladies and gents of Hughenden, Prairie and surrounding properties.
The four hostesses leading the planning of the ball are a property owner near Stamford, the Prairie publican, along with the Prairie State School principal and school administration officer/teacher aide.
A number of other dedicated ladies running local properties have also been instrumental in planning the event.
“There is a definite buzz about the ball again this year, with not just locals planning on attending,” said one of the organsiers, Prairie State School principal Tammy McClymont. ‘‘People from as far afield as Longreach, Townsville, Mt Isa, Brisbane and the Cape are planning on coming along to a great night of fun and dancing.
“Last year, we had over 260 people attend for a fabulous night, and are hoping this year will be even bigger.
“Everyone is encouraged to wear their favourite cowboy boots and or ‘bling’ it up ... Think evening gowns, diamonds and boots.
“Dress is formal, so jacket and tie, (no jeans) are required, gents.”
Facebook pages Hughenden Town and Country Club and an event page for the ball, ‘Boots and Bling’ Hughenden Town and Country Ball, are helping to spread the word and assist people in finding appropriate evening wear.
The band Syndicate will keep the music pumping all night, and the Diggers Entertainment Centre is set to be decorated in an attempt to outdo last year’s amazing efforts with its ball theme of Great Gatsby.
Ticket prices have been kept low again this year, to encourage those in drought-stricken Queensland to give themselves a night off and join in the fun at the ball. Tickets are $80 a single and $150 a double and can be purchased at Landmark Hughenden, the Western Hughenden or by contacting Tammy McClymont (0438730807) or Louise Brown (47411451). Tickets must be purchased by March 14 and cannot be purchased at the door.
