This month’s Mount Isa Ronald McDonald House North Queensland Charity Ball is set to be another success thanks to community support.
Rhonda O’Sullivan is part of the organising committee and said the event was vital for the community.
“The ball raises funds for the Ronald McDonald House in Townsville which has serviced so many of our local residents and regional friends over the years,” she said.
“This year, we have opted for a Valentine’s day ball on February 14 to make the event extra special.”
Donations are still being finalised but local businesses have been generous in their support.
Fundraising is done through auctioning items and raffles. Items will be auctioned using a new system supplied by Ezybidz this year, enabling electronic purchase of auction items with raffle tickets remaining cash only.
For the first time this will allow participation for those not attending the ball through online registration available to view and bid on the auction items.
Guests attending the ball, who have not registered prior to the event can send a text message with the keyword “RonaldMcDonald” on the night to gain access to all auction items to start bidding.
Silent auction details can be found on the “Mount Isa Ronald McDonald House NQ Charity Ball” Facebook page or to register online, go to ronald

Support for the ball has continued from Adel’s Grove and BelloVista this year with new supporters including REX, NQ Rescue Service, Mount Isa Rotary Rodeo, Outback at Isa, Mount Isa Cross Fit, Matthews Electrical, Bambinos, Atlas, Pharmacy First and the Coffee Club. Auction items range from a $100 remedial massage donated by Youth Fountain Therapies to a 12-day South African luxury adventure for two.
