Potential kingmaker Mr Katter said he had spoken to representatives from the LNP and Labor since rushing to Brisbane on Monday for post-election negotiations.
Delivering for his electorate of Mount Isa will remain forefront in any negotiations, listing no asset sales and “productive infrastructure not populist infrastructure” as a priority.
“Dams, roads and rail lines not sports stadiums and traffic tunnels,” Mr Katter said.
In the wake of the cliffhanger election result, neither the ALP nor the LNP has yet secured the necessary 45 seats to form government.
They may need the support of Mr Katter, fellow KAP member Shane Knuth and independent MP Peter Wellington to form a minority government.
From the Speaker’s Green at Parliament House on Monday afternoon, Mr Katter and Mr Knuth reiterated it was time rural and regional Queensland enjoyed the spoils in terms of jobs and industry.
Mr Katter said they would work with any government prepared to unlock the prosperity lying dormant in the regions.
“We’re basically not interested in the great Labor Party or the great Liberal Party. What we are interested in are the best interests of Queenslanders and rural and regional Queensland.
“We don’t have any favouritism whatsoever.”
The MPs pointed out that “Labor and LNP are one scandal away or one member quitting, from needing our vote if one side takes majority government.
“They will be a lot kinder to us than they have been in the past.”
