This Saturday will be the official sign-on day at Wellington Park from 9am until noon for all junior and senior players interested in playing.
A highlight of the day will be the Waitangi match, which will be played at 10am and publicity officer Barbara Baker says the game is shaping up to be very interesting.
“We have 11 players signed up for our team and Terri Woodhouse also puts together a strong New Zealand team, so it should be good,” she said.
“Amy Clarke is also looking at hosting a session for potential junior representative players.
“She will run the athletes through a personal training session and emphasise the importance of fitness and healthy eating.”
Baker is hoping to build on the strong showing at the Super Sports Sign-on day at the weekend.
“We were happy with the response we received on Sunday at the Sports Expo,” she said.
“More than 20 juniors signed up as well as a couple of seniors, which should bode well for this weekend.
“We also had had five girls show interest in the Net, Set, Go, which is a 6-8 week program run for 5-10-year-old girls interested in netball.
“We are hoping to sign up another 10 or so girls in this program this weekend.”
Other dates of interest include February21 when nominations for all teams are due, March 4 the start of two weeks of junior grading and March 5 the start of two weeks of senior grading (two games a week).
