A statement by council stated: "In the last week water usage across the city has increased from 13 to 21 megalitres per day essentially crippling the temporary filtration system leased by the Mount Isa Water Board".
Mayor Tony McGrady said in an effort to avoid issuing a City wide need to boil all drinking water, Level 4 restrictions will be enforced immediately and residents may experience low water pressure and coloured water.
Level 4 water restrictions allow for hand held hose watering only during the hours of 8-10pm on even dates for properties with even property numbers and odd dates for properties with odd property number.
