Twelve days after the January 31 election the major parties continue to squabble over which of them would be more appropriate to govern in the face of "uncertainty".
The LNP would like the caretaker government to continue until all 89 seats have been officially declared and that likely legal action over the result in Ferny Grove has been resolved.
More than half of Queensland's districts, including Ferny Gove, had been officially declared by Wednesday afternoon, but counting in some, including Lockyer, is expected to take at least another day.
Labor, with the support of independent Peter Wellington, is just as anxious to prove to the Governor that it has the numbers to form government.
Nothing has changed since late last week, other than a ramping up of the rhetoric.
The LNP claims Labor MPs, outside of a few exceptions, have requested briefings from government departments on the state of play.
Curtis Pitt received a briefing from Treasury, Jackie Trad received a briefing from the Department of Premier and Cabinet about the Great Barrier Reef and it is understood a written request was put forward to the education department for a briefing before the election but the offer lapsed as it was not taken up.
In its newly found customary silence, a spokesman for Labor did not respond for comment. When the same issues were raised earlier this week by Lawrence Springborg, Annastacia Palaszczuk only shook her head and mentioned Mr Pitt's briefing.
Meanwhile, counting and declaring continues in what has become situation normal for Queensland.
Once the writs are returned, Governor Paul de Jersey will decide if he can call on a party to form government, based on the numbers and evidence before him.
In a separate process, the Court of Disputed Returns will make a decision on whether the Ferny Grove result should be declared void once evidence has been is presented to it.
