The soon-to-be-out-of-contract Crows midfielder said such a scheme, which could come in the form of a post-retirement bonus, could prove the perfect counterbalance to free agency.

Giving his strongest indication yet that he plans to remain at Adelaide, Sloane said: "I'm very comfortable where I sit at this footy club. It's pretty well documented how I feel about the players here.

"They are just so driven by our lack of success and I think we are all driven by that and I want to be a part of that beyond this season."

Sloane, whose contractual status has been overshadowed by teammate and fellow free agent Patrick Dangerfield, said he had signed his last deal during his final contracted season, but had found the outside attention far stronger this time around.

"I'm not in a massive rush," Sloane said. "I think there's a few other guys taking the heat off me."

Sloane's loyalty-scheme proposal follows teammate and new captain Taylor Walker's admission last year that he disliked free agency and saw it as one of the key negatives dogging the modern game.

Walker's comments disappointed the AFL Players' Association and he was contacted by the union and asked not to criticise collective AFLPA policy agreements.

New players' boss Paul Marsh said he was considering the Sloane proposal and that he would take it to his board before the next round of negotiations began with the AFL.

"I went and met the Adelaide players last year and Rory raised it then," Marsh said. "I've raised it internally and we certainly see his point."

Sloane's push was said to involve a financial reward five years into a player's retirement, depending on length of service. "Staying at the one club is what we love about our footy, like local footy," he said.

"Free agency does give players a great opportunity, and we've certainly lost a couple already to other teams, but we've also got guys like Eddie Betts and Sam Jacobs.

"It would be nice to have both. The free agency part to help, particularly, those fringe players who deserve another chance, and the loyalty part as well to reward one-club players for putting more time into their clubs."

Added Marsh: "I think it has some merit. While clubs have some elements already in place for players who stay for a long period, there is nothing in terms of a specific scheme.

"Players from a lot of clubs have come up with a lot of interesting ideas, so this is something we will factor in with everything else and take it to the board. It's something we'll consider."
