Version two of generation Jennings at the foot of the Blue Mountains is about to be released, with the younger brothers of Roosters star Michael Jennings on the verge of making their NRL debuts.

George, 21, and Robert, 19, missed most of last season through injury, but after playing their first game together in last week's trial against the Warriors in New Zealand, the dynamic duo have set their sights on playing together in the NRL.

"It was pretty surreal last week, because growing up together we never played together because there's a three-year age difference," George said ahead of Saturday afternoon's trial against Parramatta.

"We just couldn't believe it. Running out on the field was crazy. When he scored I ran across the field and gave him a big hug. It was pretty special.

"I didn't think the chance to play together would come so fast. He's developed so quick. I couldn't be more proud of him. I couldn't do the things he could do at his age. He's got pretty good footwork, a lot more skilful than me."

George was poised to make his NRL debut last season, however a season-ending elbow injury at the NRL Auckland Nines put his first grade aspirations on hold.

Robert played SG Ball and Holden Cup in an injury-riddle season last year, but his rapid development now his him in line to follow in the footsteps of high school teammate Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and brother Michael and make his NRL debut as a teenager.

"Playing last week and having a taste of it, that gave me the belief that I could do it," Robert said. "Seeing Dallin last year gave me a bit of belief. Especially at such a young age. Seeing that has motivated me even more to hopefully get a crack at it.

"Seeing our older brother play when we were kids, ever since then we wanted to get into it. I remember watching him training. He's been a big help for me. He told me to do my own thing and play the way you play. Don't worry about being anyone else, just play the way you play."

When Michael was a teenager training with the Panthers' Harold Matthews' teams, George and Robert would often be there watching, kicking a ball around and trying to get Panthers gear from their big brother.

Now, with Michael having found a home at the Sydney Roosters, George and Robert drive together to training from their Quakers Hill home, going about forging an identity of their own.

"It was pretty hard when he left, because we all thought about maybe one day all playing together," George said. "It was tough when he left but it worked out best for him.

"Me and Rob never thought about leaving Penrith and following him, we always wanted to stay here. If he was happy we were happy.

"Because of our last name, there's a lot of expectation coming from people, but Michael made it easy for us because he never really talked to us about footy when we were younger. He still hardly does, because he knows there's already so much pressure on us already.

"He doesn't want to add to that pressure. If we're happy, he's happy. He's made it so much easier for us with the pressure. He doesn't try force anything on us. He understands what we need."
