Suns coach Rodney Eade revealed on Tuesday that club bosses had asked the players whether any were involved in the case involving former Sun Karmichael Hunt.

"We have asked the players to come forward and none have at this stage," Eade said on 3AW.

Suns chiefs, including football department boss Marcus Ashcroft, have met with the players and later also with the leadership group.

Eade said the discussion with players had been more about an "education process".

The AFL and Suns can expect to have official confirmation by early next week whether any of their players are implicated in the scandal.

League bosses have sought information from the Queensland Crime and Corruption Commission over whether any Suns players are implicated.

Hunt, now with the Queensland Reds, and six current and former Gold Coast Titans are facing charges over the supply and use of cocaine.

There have been rumours Suns players are involved but the Crime Commission has said it will not provide the AFL with details.

"The secrecy provisions of the Crime and Corruption Act 2001 and other legislation prevent the CCC from releasing confidential information. The CCC appreciates some sporting organisations and individuals have an interest in the outcome of this investigation and have their own processes to enact," the Commission said in a statement on Tuesday.

"However, it is not appropriate or legal for the CCC to provide briefings about its investigations to third parties, particularly when those investigations are ongoing and relate to matters before the courts.

"The CCC does not brief employers or other interested third parties about allegations against the subjects of its crime investigations.

"This is a criminal investigation. The appropriate place for details of the allegations to be presented and tested is the courts."

What the Commission has said, however, is that if there are any further arrests, these could be completed by the end of the week.

"Based on current information, the CCC expects any further arrests of current or former sports people will occur by the end of this week or early next week. However, if new information comes to hand the CCC may consider further arrests," the statement said.

Hunt was a contracted player with the Suns when he was investigated by the CCC between September 1 and October 30 last year.

AFL chief Gillon McLachlan said on Tuesday the league had a "watching brief".

"Our integrity department is in contact with the relevant bodies. They've been given a level of information which is appropriate and we don't have any information beyond that," McLachlan said.

"We can only ask the questions we can of the appropriate people. We've done that. I do not have any information at the moment that is negative or alarming. But I don't have any assurances of any broader implications."

McLachlan would not speculate on Hunt's alleged actions but said the league would not distance itself from the code-hopper who played 44 matches in four seasons with the Suns.

"He's made – seemingly – a terrible mistake. What exactly he's done will play out and the implications will play out," McLachlan said.

"But I'm not going to be piling in with everyone else to ... diminish what he did. We'll see what specifically his transgression is. It may be significant."

The AFL has said it wants the Suns chiefs to questions their players about whether any knew of Hunt's alleged actions.

The investigation could reportedly spread across the border and involve the NSW Crime Commission, with suggestions the cocaine Hunt and others allegedly supplied originated in Sydney.

In response, the CCC made it clear it was a "Queensland state agency" and did not have the "legislative basis to investigate offences that occur in other jurisdictions".

"Speculation that the CCC is investigating matters in other jurisdictions is therefore inaccurate," it said.

The agency also moved to clarify that the "individuals served with a Notice to Appear in Court arranged for the supply of cocaine for personal use or to on-supply cocaine to friends and colleagues".

"The CCC's public statements have indicated this investigation is focused on a cocaine trafficking syndicate operating in south-east Queensland. At no stage has the CCC alleged any individuals charged in the last week have been trafficking cocaine or that there is a syndicate operating primarily in sporting organisations," the QCCC said.

The charges against Hunt and the Titans players could take up to two years to pass through court.

Hunt, who has been suspended indefinitely by the Reds, will appear in court on March 5.
