On Tuesday police charged an alleged Bandidos associate and his partner from Macleay Island, in Moreton Bay, with drug offences.

The island is about a 20-minute ferry ride from the mainland.

"I suppose the message really is living in difficult to reach places and isolated communities doesn't place you above the reach of law enforcement," Taskforce Maxima Detective Inspector Brendan Smith said.

The charges came after police executed a search warrant at Coffea Street, Macleay Island.

A 33-year-old Macleay Island man was arrested and charged with producing a dangerous drug, possession of a dangerous drug, possession of a restricted drug, possession of ammunition, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstruct police.

His 37-year-old female partner was charged with possession of a dangerous drug and possession of drug paraphernalia but not arrested.

Detective Inspector Smith said the investigation lasted about a month and was initially looking into drug supply.

But he said police weren't disappointed to only lay charges of possession.

"It really becomes the luck of the draw when you take tactical action," he said.

"Sometimes you don't find anything. Sometimes you do.

"I think every time we take drugs off the street it's a great win."

Detective Inspector Smith alleged the 33-year-old took part in "a bit of a wrestle" as police arrested him, resulting in the obstruct police charge.

He said the man was not believed to be a Bandidos participant or member, just an associate. But the club's emblem was found in the house.

Both accused are due in Cleveland Magistrates Court next month.
