Cloncurry has been relegated to third spot on the ladder after an unexpected loss to bottom-placed Keas last weekend.
Cloncurry will host top side Warrigals on Saturday night – a side also keen to get their season back on track after going down to Keas at the weekend.
Warrigals left their run of tries too late in their 22-21 loss to Euros.
Warrigals remain in top spot but could be relegated to second spot if they lose to Cloncurry and Euros beat Keas.
Cloncurry coach Winston Elliott will bank on the return of a quartet of top-line players to return to the winner’s circle.
Front-rower Joe Coates, forward/utility Kieran Weller, hooker Tim Rigley and backline player Liam Giudes all return for Cloncurry. They will strengthen a Cloncurry side looking to bounce back after the disappointment of losing to Keas.
Elliott said the side would be looking for more concentration on the field from his players.
‘‘We weren’t sharp enough at the breakdown last week and our players weren’t in the right positions,’’ he said.
Cloncurry take on Warrigals from 7.30pm.
In the only game in Mount Isa on Saturday night, Keas will be out to prove their surprise win against Cloncurry was no fluke when they face Euros.
Keas reminded the competition they cannot be taken lightly, but there was also a similar message in the Euros’ upset of Warrigals.
Euros take on Keas at 7.30pm at Rugby Park.
