Police evacuated homes and closed off busy Anzac Ave in Kallangur between Cecily St and Golden Ave after a man made threats involving a gas bottle about 3pm.
Translink diverted bus routes 680 and 684, causing delays of almost half an hour.
Police negotiators were called in and the man eventually left the house at about 4pm.
"The man's come out voluntarily," a police spokeswoman said.
"He's been taken to hospital and the situation's been resolved."
The spokeswoman said police were called to the address about 2pm but the situation didn't escalate until about an hour later.
She said the man was believed to be alone in the house.
