A total of 142 properties are scheduled for auction this Saturday, which is well ahead of the 84 auctions conducted last weekend and significantly higher than the 100 listed over the same weekend a year ago.

The suburb of Windaroo will host the most number of auctions this weekend with 7, followed by Sunnybank and Ascot with 5 each and Paddington and Sunnybank Hills with 4 auctions scheduled.

Notable sales reported sold at auction last weekend in Brisbane included a 3-bedroom home at 13 Borva St, Dutton Park sold for $1,650,000 by Space Property South Brisbane, a 5-bedroom house at 81 Ninth Avenue, St Lucia sold for $1,150,000 by Doug Disher Real Estate, a 4-bedroom house at 16 Normanby Street, Indooroopilly sold for $1,100,000 by Urban Property Agents, another 4-bedroom house at 6 Mercer Avenue, Kedron sold for $870,000 by LJ Hooker Stafford and a 5-bedroom home at 4 Jason Street, Red Hill sold for $865,000 by Ray White Ashgrove/Calibre Real Estate Pty Ltd.

Seller confidence in the Brisbane housing market continues to rise following a record spring-summer auction season. This year has commenced in similar fashion with a record early season 448 auctions over the last 5 weekends compared to the 390 listed over the same period last year.

Solid buyer demand for inner and middle suburban properties continues to drive the Brisbane housing market with prices continuing to rise. Lower interest rates are fuelling increased confidence in the marketplace.

Next week the Reserve Bank will meet to determine the direction of interest rates over the month.

Concern over the direction of the national economy has activated the Reserve Bank to cut rates in an attempt to stimulate growth. Further cuts are likely given the continuing underperformance of a number of state economies.

Super strong early season buyer activity in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane however may give the Reserve Bank something extra to think about next Tuesday.
