The vital win keeps Cloncurry in third spot, but more importantly keeps the side in touch with the top two in the Mount Isa Rugby Union competition.
Warrigals earned one point from the narrow loss, ensuring they stay on top of the ladder, in front of Euros by one point.
Cloncurry’s victory means only three points separate the top three sides on the ladder.
With a pre-match thunder and lightning storm at bay in Cloncurry, the home side won the toss and elected to receive running into the wind in hopes of securing it the wind assistance for the second half.
The game proved to be entertainment filled with both teams digging in across the park and both back lines utilising a range of combinations and throwing some brilliant set plays together, forcing the forwards to chase the ball all game.
But it wasn’t just the backline of Warrigals and Cloncurry having all the fun.
The scrums were intense and powerful, with both packs going blow for blow in a tough contest. Warrigals captain Tom Robinson praised his side’s efforts in attempting to secure a gutsy away win, but it wasn’t to be as Cloncurry held tough for a narrow win.
Cloncurry skipper Hamish Chrisp said having a full bench for the home game proved the difference, with the side welcoming some new and old faces
In the other game, Euros held off Keas 15-7 in a low-scoring affair in stifling conditions at Rugby Park.
Euros led 10-0 at half-time and were able to hold off Keas in the finish.
Scotty Perrin, James George and Poasa Faraimo each scored a try for Euros.
