A Gold Coast penthouse that once belonged to flamboyant and controversial doctor Geoffrey Edelsten will go under the hammer later this month.

And well-to-do fans of Dr Edelsten's ostentatious style will be able to experience it first-hand, as long as they have deep pockets.
Marketing agent Lucy Cole said the "tasteful" furnishings of the Palazzo Vercace penthouse at Main Beach, which overlooked the Broadwater, could be included in any sale.
But only if the buyer wanted that taste of Edelsten extravagance.
"The current owners are selling it with or without (the furnishings), it just depends who would like the penthouse as is," she said.
"If whoever was interested in it just wanted the facilities, the four walls, we can discuss that as well."
Ms Cole said prices at Versace Palazzo generally remained a secret, but typically ranged from $2 million to $6 million.
She expected the property to fall on the upper end of that scale.
"They're contemporary Versace and it's all very private, very secluded and it does offer, for the few privileged people who can afford this lifestyle, it is a very unique setting and one that's quite sought after, but not always available here in Queensland or in Australia," Ms Cole said.
The Palazzo Versace is known as a playground of the rich and the famous and Ms Cole said the former, at least, had already shown a lot of interest.
"They're not every day names, so to speak, they're more discreet than that," she said.
"But I can say they're the upper end of the people who can afford this lifestyle."
The two-storey, two-bedroom, two-bathroom penthouse, complete with a rooftop garden and a jacuzzi, will be auctioned on March 22.
Comment was sought from Dr Edelsten, who had used the penthouse as a weekend retreat for him and his ex-wife Brynne.
