Greg Bird, Dave Taylor, Beau Falloon, Kalifa Faifai Loa and Jamie Dowling are facing the prospect of being sidelined for a further two months unless they provide the Titans with detailed information about the allegations against them.

Players' association chief executive David Garnsey said lawyers representing the players wished to put cases forward for their clients' return to full-time employment. While Garnsey wouldn't comment on specific cases before the court, he said standing down players without due process constituted disciplinary action without regard for the players' contractual or common law rights.

"Players are entitled to the presumption of innocence and to defend their reputations," Garnsey said.

"Their clubs are contractually obligated to use their best endeavours to provide them with an opportunity to train and play.

"All of us in rugby league want what's best for the game, but I am certain the NRL and clubs do not want to be known as sporting organisations that disregard both the fundamental rights afforded to every citizen and the rights guaranteed to their players under their contracts."
