Canberra Raiders fullback Jack Wighton has avoided suspension despite being charged with grade one striking for his flurry of punches on Cronulla winger Sosaia Feki in Sunday's 24-20 win in Sydney.
In more good new for the Raiders before Sunday's home clash with the Warriors, lock Shaun Fensom wasn't cited after he was placed on report for an alleged chicken wing tackle on Sharks prop Andrew Fifita.
Wighton took the early guilty plea and had 93 carryover points, just short of the 100 needed for a one game ban, for the second half dust up where both players were sent to the sin bin.
Last year NSW skipper Paul Gallen was suspended for one match after being charged with grade two striking for his State of Origin altercation with Queensland enforcer Nate Myles.
Wighton, charged with replacing the departed Anthony Milford at fullback, was outstanding against Cronulla and was effectively the difference between the two sides.
He proved why he's rated a future NSW Blue by scoring two first half tries, including an 80-metre effort off a tap restart, and threw the final pass for another.
After returning from the sin bin, the 22-year-old pulled off a superb try-saving cover tackle on Mitch Brown who looked certain to score in the dying stages.
Wighton and Fensom's availability is a huge coup for the Raiders, who face a Warriors side which put over 100 points on them in two heavy losses last year.
