He pleaded guilty in the Brisbane District Court on Friday to rape, producing child exploitation material and indecent assault, The Queensland Times reported.

The Ipswich man, who can't be identified to protect his daughter's identity, was sentenced to seven years and three months in jail.

The Queensland Times reported Crown Prosecutor Deborah Holliday said the man had filmed himself committing various sex acts, including penile rape, on his daughter while she lay on a bed.

"His former partner [not the girl's mother] was doing something on his computer one day in October, 2012 and came across the video," she said.

"She reported it to police.

"Early the following year he showed his current partner the video and she told him to destroy it.

"The next day she reported it to police and he was subsequently arrested."

The court was told the offences occurred between 2010 and 2011 and the man had been on the police radar for a while before his arrest.

Judge Michael Rackemann told the court the any violence towards the girl would have resulted in a much higher sentence.

The Ipswich man will be eligible for parole on August 12, 2017.
