The WA Football Commission and Domain Stadium today launched their 2015 food and beverage offerings, with prices significantly higher than the MCG but lower than the industry average at other stadiums, despite a report to the contrary in The West Australian.

As Fairfax Media revealed earlier this month, WA footy fans will face similar prices to those at Patersons Stadium in 2014 and at most other footy venues around the country.

At Domain Stadium in 2015, a hamburger will cost $8.50, a hot dog $6, hot chips $5.60, a bottle of Mt Franklin water $4.70 and a 600mL soft drink $5.50.

Prices at Perth Arena are higher. An "artisan burger" will set you back $12.50, "specialty" hot dog $8, hot chips $6 and 600ml bottled water and soft drinks $5 each. A bag of potato chips or an ice cream also cost $5.

In late February, Fairfax Media revealed Australia's most famous sports stadium would become one of its cheapest, heaping pressure on the likes of Etihad Stadium and Domain (originally Subiaco Oval) to follow suit.

The price of hot chips at the MCG will drop from $5.60 to $4; a hot dog from $6.50 to $4 and a meat pie also $4 (down from $4.80). A bottle of water drops from $5 to $3 and beer drinkers won't have to fork out $1 for a tray anymore.

2015 Domain Stadium prices

Before footy fans start thinking about boycotting the menu at Domain Stadium, the price of food and drink in 2015 is relatively cheap compared to the national average at other major stadiums around Australia, according to the WAFC.

- a beef burger is $1.54 cheaper than the industry average

- a chicken burger is $1.02 cheaper than the industry average

- a sushi roll pack is $1.37 cheaper than the industry average

- 600ml soft drinks (50c dearer) and a hot dog (42c dearer) are the only menu items significantly higher than the industry average

Domain Stadium general manager Gavin Taylor said it had no plans to follow the MCG's lead in slashing prices.

"The WAFC is very aware of the importance of food as part of the match-day experience for fans and always undertakes benchmarking of prices around Australia to ensure value is provided to fans in Western Australia," he said.

In 2014, all food and drink at Domain was cheaper than the national average except for a 600ml soft drink (14 cents more expensive at $5.20), a hot dog ($6 compared to $5.81) and a bottle of water ($4.70 versus $4.61).

For 2015, the WAFC and hospitality giant Delaware North have improved the food experience at Domain Stadium, spending just under $2 million on the the menu and upgrading outlets.

The new food range in 2015 includes children's meal plus a mix of traditional and new speciality food items, as well as a 'WA Home Grown' menu range featuring some of WA's best local producers and ingredients.
