Archer also said a try to Knights centre Dane Gagai should have been disallowed due to a Korbin Sims knock-on in the lead-up to the four-pointer.

He also said Manly centre Steve Matai's try should not have been allowed in their loss to the Bulldogs, but said the call to Blake Austin deny the Raiders a near unbeatable 22-point lead was correct.

The decision comes after six players were charged by the match review committee.

The video referees adjudicated on the three controversial decisions, with video referees Bernard Sutton and Luke Phillips overruling the on-field call to rule Matai's a no try in the loss to Canterbury.

Archer – who described the on-field performance as "pretty good" - said two of those calls were wrong.

• Steve Matai try: "I am of the opinion there was insufficient evidence to overturn the live decision," Archer said. "I don't think it should have been overturned."
• Blake Austin no try: "I agree with the decision," Archer said. "He reaches out to ground the ball, it's not in the original position it was when he originally tackled."
• Knock on by Korbin Sims, which led to Dane Gagai try: "I believe there is sufficient evidence to overturn the decision.," Archer said. "The ball strikes Sims' right hand and travels forwards across the ground despite Sims stepping forward and being in front of the ball."

Had Austin not propelled the ball-carrying arm, he could have still been awarded a try had he allowed momentum to take him across the try line. The try would have given the Raiders a likely match-winning lead against St George Illawarra on Saturday night.

"He plays the ball just short of the try line,"  Archer said. "If he doesn't promote the ball and keeps it in its position [it could have been a try]. It's the promotion of the ball when he is short of the try line, which is the reason it's a double movement."

Meanwhile, Cronulla five-eighth Ben Barba is facing three weeks on the sidelines after being hit with two charges. An early guilty plea to both grade one dangerous throw and dangerous contact charges will see Barba miss two games.

Sims was also slapped with two dangerous throw charges which will see him suspended for two games with an early guilty plea. Canberra's Shaun Fensom (one week) and Wests Tigers' Pat Richards (one-two weeks) are both facing time on the sidelines for dangerous contact with head/neck charges.

St George Illawarra's Joel Thompson (dangerous contact), South Sydney's Glenn Stewart (dangerous throw) and Gold Coast's Eddy Pettybourne (careless high tackle) will be free to play with early guilty pleas.

NRL hopeful Adam Docker could be banned for three games for the Panthers after being sent off for a shoulder charge on Cronulla's Nathan Gardner in the NSW Cup. Wests Tigers youngster Marion Seve was hit with a grade five dangerous throw charge in the under-20s, which could see him sidelined for up to nine weeks. Seve will miss at least six games despite not being sent off for the tackle against South Sydney on Sunday.
