In the first of the open women’s matches, Hoopers and Celtics played a very tight match-up but it was Hoopers who just did enough to win 27-25.
In a physical battle both offensively and defensively, Hoopers hooped two points in the final minutes of the last quarter. Hoopers Guard Kimberley Munro scored nine points while fellow guard/forward Tahlia Oltvanji dropped a big 16 points, which was the leading score of the game. Celtics Forward Shannon Ward scored a commendable team high of 15 points.
Matariki continued their good form defeating Sonic Health 24-22 with a last-minute goal in what was a nail-biting encounter. The game was virtually too close to call throughout all four quarters with the teams going goal for goal.
Teresa Hodgetts of Sonic was the match-leading scorer with 10 points while Matariki player Renee Philips scored eight points for her team.
Divas got back to winning ways to put in an outstanding defensive effort to secure a comfortable 31-22 win over Kangas.
Kangas guards Madeline Merrett and Kate Stephens both scored seven points each contributing 14 points for their team.
Divas guards Shaqeigha George (15 pts) and Lisa Parker (12 pts) were on a roll with both scoring double digits.
Sonic Health 2 extended their win streak beating Semi Pros 27-16 in an outstanding display of basketball on court for spectators.
Semi Pros Kim Stokes (7 pts) and Kristin George-Glessing (6 pts) together contributed 13 points for their team.
Sonics player Trisha Ellis scored a whopping 16 points, which was the leading score of the game, while Shona Edwards also contributed five points for her team.
In the social women’s, Pandamonium C played an impressive game against Sonic C winning 25-10. Pandamonium C led the entire game with Anna Wishink (10 pts) and Keryn O’Regan (9 pts) together scoring 19 points for their team to secure a win.
Sonic C centre Gina Scott played an excellent offensive game for her team scoring eight points.
