Through the Wall – Reflections on Leadership, Love and Survival is the latest tome from a long line of politicians telling their stories following the end of their political career, and will be officially launched on Tuesday.

The former premier decided against taking the Mark Latham approach when presenting the edited version of her life, writing that she has no interest in "...a back-stabbing, tell-all critique of my colleagues in my public life".

"While I have plenty of stories that would shock, distress and amuse, I'm a 'dance with the one that brung  ya' kind of girl'," she wrote.

"So those readers who've come looking for gossip and intrigue can return this book to its shelf. As for those of you who have confided in me, conspired with me or betrayed me; you can relax. "

Which is sure to disappoint any Opposition MPs looking for ammunition against the new Labor government.

Not that anyone had anything but well wishes to give on Monday.

"I respected Anna Bligh as Premier of Queensland," Opposition Leader and the parliament's longest serving member Lawrence Springborg said.

"I didn't always support her in her views, but you have to admire her determination, her tenacity.

"Anyone who is premier of Queensland and stands for public office, regardless of their politics, deserves admiration and support for what they do.

"And whilst I didn't necessarily support Anna Bligh's policies, I admired her strength and determination and wish her all the very best in this, the next stage of her life."

But he may not get the opportunity to read it. "I don't always get a chance to read books and autobiographies, but I wish her all the very best with her book," he said.

Deputy Premier Jackie Trad, who was elected to Ms Bligh's seat and is mentioned as a "friend of a lifetime", was more effusive.

"I think that Anna contributed a great many things to Queensland and I think Queenslanders understand that and I think they passed their judgement on that not only in 2012 but in 2009," she said.

"I like other people have read the extract and I have grabbed a copy today so I will be going through it as fast as I can. "I'm sure that the former premier will be criticised for a whole range of things, what she put in, what she left out, but at the end of the day it's her story."

Health Minister Cameron Dick, who served as attorney-general and education minister in the Bligh government, said he was "looking forward" to reading his former boss's memoir.

"There are obviously some interesting observations by the former premier and I look forward to seeing that hit the bookshelves," he said.

But as for Mr Bligh, whose book went to print as the Newman government was voted out, continuing to build her new life away from politics and spending time with loved ones remains her primary concern.

But Queensland's first female premier did take a moment to reflect on the "hole in the wall" she pushed through and the "constant stream of women pushing through it" in her wake, that she hopes to see.

"As these pages went to print, Queensland voters returned to the ballot box and a tidal wave of electoral discontent swept Campbell Newman and his LNP government out of office," she wrote.

"...Newman also lost his own seat of Ashgrove, defeated after just one term by the talented and energetic Kate Jones, the former environment minister in my government.

"Annastacia Palaszczuk, my former minister for transport, looks set to become Queensland's second female premier and the first Australian woman to lead her party from opposition to government,

"And Leeanne Enoch has become the first Aboriginal woman to be elected to the Queensland government. Along with other strong, capable women such as Jackie Trad, who won my own seat of South Brisbane after I retired and worked tirelessly to help secure this astonishing victory, they have all jumped through the wall.

"It fills me with renewed hope and joy that the wall is tumbling down at last."

Not one to stay silent, Campbell Newman, the man bookended by female Labor premiers,  is also planning a book. There is no word yet on when that will hit shelves.
