Two separate crashes have caused traffic chaos on major Brisbane commuter routes on Tuesday morning, with collisions in the city's north and south causing significant delays.

Traffic is reportedly at a standstill for 16 kilometres in the south following a five vehicle nose-to-tail crash on the M1 near the Logan Road off-ramp.

A spokeswoman for the Australian Traffic Network said there were extensive delays from as far back as the Gold Coast.

A number of Translink Logan City bus services have also been impacted, with the majority experiencing delays of up to 25 minutes.

One service, the 555 from Loganholme, is suffering hour long delays.

The crash occurred about 5.40am and emergency services are still working to clear the scene.

One person was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital with minor injuries, according to a Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman.

The ATN spokeswoman said the crash was also affecting the Logan Motorway, with delays there prompted by motorists seeking to avoid the crash site.

In the city's north, a two car nose-to-tail crash at the Sandgate overpass on the Gateway Motorway just after 6am has also caused major delays for morning commuters.

No injuries were reported in the collision and the crash scene was cleared shortly after 7am, according to the ATN.

However, traffic remains at a standstill on the Deagon Deviation and the Bruce Highway is impacted back to Deception Bay, the spokeswoman said.

A couple of Translink bus services on the northside, the P315 and the 680, are also experiencing delays of up to 25 minutes, according to a spokesman for the transport provider.
