The day was hailed a success with about 200 people enjoying activities and food throughout Sunday morning.
With a variety of sample foods from different cultures available – ranging from nachos, curry, cakes and a good old Aussie barbeque - there was a little bit of something for everyone.
Country Women’s Association divisional president Fran Gray was one of the main organisers of the day, combining Curry Day and Harmony Day to celebrate not only Cloncurry, but also all of the cultures within the community.
Mrs Gray said Curry Harmony Day was organised in just four weeks but after such a great turnout they hope to make it an annual event.
“Harmony Day has been successful and we are looking at repeating the event in 2016,” she said.
Access Community Services General Manager of service development Etienne Roux said he visited Cloncurry four weeks ago and thought the idea of combining the two days was a great way the community could showcase different citizens and their culture.
“More showed up than we expected and it really shows the communities participation,” he said.
With a drumming workshop, filming of a documentary, touch rugby, swimming and more Mr Roux said they have engaged with up to 80 percent the community.
