About 250 children and parents enjoyed face painting, snow cones and a costume parade throughout the morning.
Centacare North Queensland program manager and Communities for Children worker Elizabeth Gallard said there was a smile on every kids face.
“The day went really well and there was a lot of support shown from local organisations,” she said.
“It’s a great opportunity for everyone to get together within the community.
“There was one family new to Mount Isa who came today as their first family outing.
“There were also families from Dajarra and lots of play groups that made it today.”
Mrs Gallard said the aim of Mega Playgroup is to give parents ideas to take home to prepare their kids for school.
“Our aim is to celebrate children from zero to five years-old and to celebrate Playgroup Week and literacy,” she said.
“We are so lucky that we have organisations that will work together to do things to create community spirit.”
