The competition will continue with six club teams coming from Isaroos, Rippers, Tigers, Parkside, International, and Atlas.
The women’s competition president and Parkside captain Kerrie Dempsey is excited for what she thinks will be yet another competitive year of soccer.
“It’s a pretty even competition,” Dempsey said.
“You can’t put a finger on one team. It’s good because every week is going to be different. Everyone is at the same level. We haven’t got one dominant team.”
Dempsey was hoping for the inclusion of a seventh team from Cloncurry but due to travel issues that was not be possible this season.
“We asked for a home-away system. They [Cloncurry] did get a team together, but some of the girls didn’t want to travel,” Dempsey said.
Meanwhile, the official opening of the soccer season will take place on Saturday morning in the form of the annual march past.
The march past, which will be attended by guest Mount Isa mayor Tony McGrady, formally signals the official opening for the Mount Isa Soccer Association.
Following this, the junior fixtures will take place throughout the morning while senior men’s pre-season round-robin fixtures will take place in the afternoon.
