Hodge trained with the Raiders during pre-season, but the 23-year-old pulled the pin when he realised his knee injuries weren't up to playing at the elite level.

His signing is a major coup for the Warriors, who returned to the Canberra Raiders Cup finals last year after going winless in 2013.

Earmarked as a centre at the Raiders, West Belconnen coach Justin Giteau is keen to play him closer to the action at five-eighth or fullback.

Hodge attracted tempting offers from cashed-up Goulburn and Queanbeyan Blues, last year's grand finalists, but opted for the Warriors. "I've got closure and I'm happy what I'm doing now," Hodge said, who has a one-year-old daughter Lola.

"If it [knee] felt really good and I could compete it would have been fantastic, but it didn't work out that way.

"It was all about having a crack and I have no regrets.

"There's a fair few fellas from my home town out there and a couple of blokes I've played twenties with."

Hodge said it is highly unlikely he will revive his NRL dream, even if he dominates the local competition.

"I'd have to play pretty fantastic football to even consider it," Hodge said. "It's not really in my head now, that's it, I'm done.

"NRL's not a game where you can come in and out when you please."

Hodge played in the No.6 jersey in Friday's 22-20 trial loss to Goulburn, but admitted he is more comfortable down the back.

"I'm a fullback from way back, I've played it pretty much all my life," he said.

"That's my preferred position but I'll play wherever 'Gits' needs me.

"I played in the halves in the trial and I don't feel 100 per cent comfortable there, but I suppose that comes with playing there a fair bit."

Hodge will start a new job at an elevator/escalator installation company owned by Warriors president Martin Mason next week.

Former Raiders under-20 teammate Mark Appleton has also signed with the Warriors after a long stint with former Raiders Queensland Cup affiliate Souths Logan.
