For the first 10 minutes of the first half, Cloncurry dominated field position having pinned Euros in their own half.
It was Cloncurry that landed the first points of the game with a penalty goal in the 11th minute but Euros replied instantly with a try by Josiah Vodo Rasova.
From there on it was all Euros scoring 24 unanswered points before the halftime interval.
John Bather was unmarked when he went over in the corner after a great overlap from a ruck centre field.
Almost immediately after the return kick off Euros flanker Corey Carlson made a charging run through the defensive line to make the score 15-3.
In the 25th minute, Euros back Brennan English made it 22-3 before Carlson bagged his second try of the night off his own individual grubber kick skills.
An injury-hit Cloncurry side this week competed well in the second half scoring three tries for themselves but Euros matched them the whole way.
Euros fullback Regan Thatcher and back John Bather finished the win off for Euros scoring a couple of tries each.
Mount Isa Rugby Union president Michael O’Connor said the game wasn’t the prettiest to watch even though his side got the victory.
“It was scrappy. They were down players so we’re not going to read too much into the result,” O’Connor said.
The Mount Isa Rugby Association Ladies Day put on a very enjoyable night for all those involved in the evening’s proceedings.
The Player auctions, auctioneered proficiently by Cameron McKerrow, were the highlight of the event with the highest bid of $170 in the direction of Warrigals player Tom Robertson.
