Getting a big break with a popular television series can spell typecasting purgatory for an actor. Many must be content with their place in small-screen history being defined to the role that made them famous – or spend the rest of their careers trading on that early success by appearing in celebrity shows (I'm looking at you, Maureen McCormick). But for some, the stars align with a new role in another hit series, which gives them the scope to prove their versatility and staying power.
